Overview

As immigrant women merge into a new country, they often face significant challenges accessing healthcare services. These challenges may include language barriers, unfamiliarity with local health systems, and trouble understanding health insurance policies. Our platform, We, offers real-time language translation and in-person check-up companion experts for non-native-speaking women. We also provide a tailored community for our users to share knowledge and explore. Our goal is to make healthcare accessible, understandable, and supportive for every woman.

Project Description

In today's globalized society, the movement of people across borders is a common occurrence, increasing linguistic diversity within countries. This shift poses unique challenges in many sectors, especially healthcare, where non-native-speaking women often struggle due to language barriers and cultural differences. Recognizing this issue, our project, "We," seeks to bridge the gap between these women and the healthcare services they need.

Our project is not just about providing a service; it's about creating a responsive and culturally aware user experience. Through extensive research, including surveys and interviews with our target audience, we gained a deep understanding of the obstacles these women face. This insight was important in shaping our solution: a platform that combines advanced AI technology with expert human support.

The cornerstone of "We" is its innovative integration of real-time language translation and procedural guidance, which is thoughtfully tailored to each user’s cultural context. This approach not only aids in understanding and navigating healthcare systems but also ensures that the medical guidance provided is relevant and respectful of cultural nuances.

What truly sets our platform apart is the fusion of cutting-edge technology and human expertise, offering a comprehensive solution that enhances accessibility. "We" adapts to various languages and cultural nuances, making it sustainable and universally applicable, thus broadening healthcare access to a more diverse population.

Our design resonates because it tells a powerful story of empowerment and inclusion, it demonstrates how technology can make healthcare more equitable and give a voice to those who are often left behind.

Through "We," we aim to enhance communication and understanding, thereby not only improving the quality of life for our users but also contributing to a more inclusive and equitable healthcare system globally.

Research

Accordingly, a significant number of immigrant women encounter substantial difficulties in adapting to healthcare systems in their new countries. According to the 2023 KFF/LA Times survey, about 77% of immigrant adults have sought healthcare in the past year, but many face challenges due to language barriers, cultural differences, and navigating unfamiliar health systems. Women are also more likely than men to report experiencing at least one of these challenges (31% vs. 25%)​ (KFF)​.

Specifically, immigrant women play a crucial role in the healthcare workforce yet struggle with barriers that hinder their ability to receive care themselves. Issues such as verifying credentials, navigating immigration pathways, and cultural adaptation present significant hurdles​ (Center for American Progress)​.

Companion for wellness checkups

One of our core features is in-person companions for wellness checkups. We understand the importance of emotional and physical support during medical visits. We have verified experts provide in-person companionship during wellness check-ups. They will support and help our users through medical visits. Simply ask the AI assistant to help arrange, the expert care is at your fingertips.

Navigate through insurance policy

We recognize insurance policies can be a headache for new immigrants. Here, we simplified the complex world of insurance jargon by offering comprehensive explanations and comparisons in languages our users prefer, to help them make informed decisions about coverage options. Plus, users can also save the files for future reference.

Share knowledge within the community

To better equip our users with adequate knowledge of wellness and healthcare, We offer a safe space where they could share experiences, seek advice, and find articles on health topics. Here, they are lading in a supportive network of women with similar experiences.

Brand Story

Our brand, symbolized by the name "We," is built on the profound belief that women should support, empower, and stand by each other. The logo, featuring a stylized heart formed from two linked hands, visually embodies our commitment to fostering connections and solidarity among women. The design’s simplicity and elegance reflect the unity and strength inherent in our community.

Our brand color diverges from the typical palette of bright and light hues often used in women-focused apps. We selected this rich, earthy red to convey warmth and power, reflecting the inherent strength and resilience of women. This color not only makes our brand distinctive but also reinforces our message of empowerment and vigor.

Our brand story is not just about the services we offer; it's about building a movement. A movement that champions the collective power of women supporting each other, breaking barriers, and creating a world where every woman has the strength and support to achieve her fullest potential.
