Pre-thesis Week07 - Notes from Dana one on one meeting
2018.10.26
Notes:
Metaphorizing different alters within one person as many people living in a large house is an easy way to catch people up with the basic understanding of what DID is.
The concept is to deepen people’s understanding of what it feels like to have DID, the form of the project could take the shape of a game or something else.
Take IRB CITI training and contact Claire from accessibility department. Write a short proposal about interviewing people with DID and questions what I’m gonna ask.
The project can do the benefit for the therapist to diagnose DID, to help them understand and treat patients accordingly.
The project can also help parents/ relatives/people related to experience what their kids/ friends/patients are going through, help them to understand this specific disorder.
This project can also help the society to know more about mental disease and give people an acceptable way to comprehend the situation.
The form of the project is relaxing and easy, but the concept is to let people think and feel. I’m not planning to make fun of the disease, but to draw people’s attention to the situation.
When doing interviews, some people with DID might feel offended, should ask Claire first about the language to see how to express fully about my idea and proposal.
Should visualize the metaphor of alters and house to help myself (and other people) to comprehend the idea of my topic.
Next Step:
Do some drawings to visualize feeling of DID patient
Email Claire about interviewing stuff
