Updates on Pre-Thesis week01-card-sorting
2018.9.16
After last week’s discussion and brainstorming exercise on topics we interested in, I did some brainstorming on my original topics.
I made some updates on my week 01 card sorting process. Following are the updates from step 6:
Step 6 – Formulating more questions
– Ask about the history of your topic
– Ask about its structure and composition
– Turn the Positive Questions into Negative Ones
– Ask What if? and Other Speculative Questions
– Ask Questions Suggested by your Sources
Based on my initial research, I dug deeper and the following are more questions related to my original topic:
1. Triangle – paradox movie
What is the history of deja vu?
How does a psychological hint affect people’s behavior?
How might we control/predict people’s action by using a psychological hint?
What if we can manually change our emotion towards things we don’t like?
How might we use technology to manage our emotion and help people with DID?
2. Emotional changes
What is the history of emotion tracking?
What kind of physical changes do we have when having emotion swing? How do we track them?
How might we substitute emotion swings through other sensory like a taste, a smell or tactile feeling?
What if we can control emotions?
How might we use technology to manage our emotion and help people with DID?
3. The turning point in movies
What is the history of an unexpected result in movies?
How might we change the way of storytelling in order to surprise people by using a routine story?
How might we impress our users by new design without shocking them? How to make innovative design invisible?
What if we can customize the output style by tracking users preference using technology?
How might we prevent repetition in the recommendation system?
4. Building a relationship
What is the structure of our society?
What is the history of a relationship?
How to find the most fragile part of society?
How might we create a utopia way to keep a relationship?
How might we help people with social anxiety?
5. Golden retriever
What is the history of training dogs?
What does a dog mean to different people?
How does pet raising destroy our lives?
What if we can measure our addiction?
How might we help people suffering from withdrawal response?
Possible Ideas
– I’m interested in ways to substitute our emotions to other senses and prevent emotions from getting overwhelmed in order to help people with Dissociative Identity Disorder.
– I’m interested in how to make our innovative ideas and designs to be both creative and familiar to users. How might we make innovative design invisible?
