Wearable - inspiration research
This week I found two inspirational wearable devices aiming to help people with visual impairment.
Live Braille is a detector which can vibrate when there is something or someone in front of the person. The user can also sensor the distance based on the variable vibration. For example, when someone is getting close to the user, the vibration will increase accordingly. This device is very small and can be easily put on the user’s two fingers. The price of this device is also very friendly compared to other professional medical devices.
Dot Braille Smartwatch is a smartwatch which can project braille characters on a screen. It can connect to smartphone by bluetooth and turn message, notification and even alarm clock to braille. With Dot, people with blindness and vision loss can get rid of the embarrassed moment using Voiceover when having notifications.
