Project 01 – Hi-Fi prototype rendering and presentation

Challenge

This week I focused on dealing with the problem I found in my last prototype, which is how to connect the servo motor to the system in order to make the device going back and force automatically.

I sketched some ideas and looked up some videos about gears and mechanical transmission videos on Youtube. The challenge is that the servo motor moves in a circle(half a circle, to be specific), and my device works liner, which means that servo motor cannot be connected to my device directly, there must be some connections between to transform the circular force to a liner one.

I came up with some ideas. but no clear enough so I started to model the system in MAYA to clear out my idea.

As the images show, I’m connecting the red support part to the base of the sticks, and the servo motor will be connected with an axis which serves as a force for the sign in the right side.
