UX Design - Airport Butler App

Airport butler

Transportation UX Design - 2018.5

Overview

This project is a transportation problem UX design. Based on user needs and interview, I designed an application called Airport Butler. It serves as a butler, helping users through their whole trip, from their front gate to their destination. With Airport Butler, their is no need to worry about how to get to the airport on time and find the nearest way to the correct terminal, not to say how to navigate through layover.

Persona

Cindy has been moved to New York City for half a year to study at NYU. Before moving to New York, she lived in Los Angeles, along with her boyfriend and all of her friends. She takes a flight to L.A. every several weeks from LaGuardia Airport, NY to Los Angeles International Airport, LA. She currently lives in 10 City Point, Brooklyn. In the interview, she talked about problems she had every time when going to Los Angeles.

Solution description

  • Ticket Booking: Help users filter out their best booking choice. Write down your timeline, let us do the rest.

  • To The Airport: Collaborate with UberPool, a society of people who are gonna take the same flight or flights on the same day. Customers can share Uber and split the fee.

  • Check-in: None-luggage check-in service online. If people do have luggage, there are machines in the airport near the check-in table, customers can log in to the machine with a unique QR code for each person where they can pay the overweight fee with the machine.

  • Flight Service: Offer real-time chatting room and gaming room for people on the same plane.

  • Layover service: This app would record customer’s flight automatically and once they arrive at the airport of the next flight, the system would provide a map of the current airport and lead customers to the terminal of the next flight. With “Now You’re here” mark.

  • To The destination: Same with the first service, provide UberPool for customers to share the fee.

User Testing

Based on the feedback from user testing, I improved the first prototype by simplify the process and adjust information architecture. Then I made this Low-fidelity prototype:
